TROPICAL AVOCADO (Persea americana)

With its dark-green colour, round or pear shape and creamy flesh of light-green colour, it's a versatile fruit. It can be used as appetizer, in soups, in main dishes, salads and desserts. Differently from other fruits, the avocado is comparatively high in oil and proteins that makes it a highly nutritious food. In Brazil several varieties are cultivated and harvested in different seasons and with a lower oil content than the varieties from most other countries. It is ripe when it gives way under a small pressure.
